The Casa de México in Málaga and Andalusia, directed by journalist and writer Claudia Luna Palencia, held its first successful event with the presence of Ángela de Miguel, president of the Mexico-Spain Business Association.

At a networking breakfast at the Hotel AC Málaga Palacio attended by many businesswomen and businessmen, both Spanish and Mexican, based in Málaga and other Andalusian provinces, the Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, highlighted the deep ties between Spain and Mexico and recalled the generosity of the Mexican people during the Civil War in receiving thousands of Spanish immigrants, many of them exiles.

De la Torre recalled that more than 7,000 Spanish companies already operate in Mexico and pointed out that in recent years the Iberian country has become a magnet for Mexican capital, to such an extent that there are more than 700 Mexican companies in Spain. And adding up.

It is no longer just interest in Madrid or Barcelona, within Andalusia it is precisely Malaga that is the jewel in the crown for Mexican investors. Recently the powerful real estate group Be Grand bought important hectares in El Limonar to build homes for more than two million euros.

"Spain and Mexico must continue to work together because we have a common history and we also share a common language. In the United States alone there are more than 40 million Mexicans. Mexico is a brother country that has always opened its doors to us," said the mayor of Málaga.

In addition to the cultural footprint and these communicating vessels, the leader of the House of Mexico in Malaga and Andalusia, Luna Palencia, said that this private organisation was born with the vocation of service, to connect the interests of both sides of the Atlantic and facilitate that people from Mexico looking for a house in Malaga or in other parts of Andalusia or Spain can find a reliable professional to assist them throughout the process until they obtain the Golden Visa.

"We also see that there are many families in Mexico who want to send their children to study in Malaga or other parts of Andalusia or Spain and do not know who to turn to for help in this process; the same goes for those small and medium entrepreneurs in Andalusia or in Mexico who want to sell their products either in Spain or in Mexico and cannot find someone to help them find their import partner. We are there for them," said Luna Palencia.

She said that they also facilitate the organisation of tourist trips by connecting people both here and in Mexico, so that they can safely make their dream trip come true.

"Within our project as Casa de México in Málaga and Andalusia we will not only organise many cultural, gastronomic, sporting and musical events to showcase the best of all of Mexico, but we will also provide scholarships to underprivileged children in Málaga, Andalusia and Mexico so that they can finish their studies until they graduate from university. We are not going to let go of their hand", she said excitedly.

For her part, the guest of honour, Ángela de Miguel, president of the Mexico-Spain Business Association, recalled that Mexico is in fashion in Spain and that at the moment there is an important wave of Mexican SMEs and mini-SMEs that are making their way across the Iberian peninsula.

"At first we see that the flow coming from Mexico is coming to the real estate sector, perhaps because it is a safe haven or a place to be; however, Mexico and Spain have enormous potential for growth in many sectors, as we are experiencing now," she said with conviction.

De Miguel is a well-known businesswoman with an enormous background in the sector who also knows the ins and outs of the system and is well respected among her peers. She has a long track record and has stood out as president of the Valladolid business community.

"It is impressive the amount of Mexican capital that is coming to invest in Spain, not only buying companies to set up here. In Madrid, we have more and more Mexican restaurants that are promoting the gastronomy, which is very strong, and there are more and more Mexican students, we are talking about 5,000 Mexican students in various Spanish universities studying undergraduate and postgraduate degrees", comments de Miguel.

The president of AEMEES was very enthusiastic about all the binational events that can be held to bring the interests of investors closer together.

And this year will be very decisive because the Spanish government is backing Mexico to get the EU to implement the new modernised free trade agreement, which could go ahead in the second half of the year, when Spain will hold the presidency of the European Council.  There is business joy in the air.

The Casa de México in Málaga and Andalusia does not yet have a physical headquarters, but they are looking for one. Luna Palencia commented that they hope to have a nice and dignified headquarters where they can house a museum of Ibero-American sculpture; have a Sanborn's cafeteria and a restaurant and exhibition rooms.
