Artworks by female scientists reflecting their experiences of the COVID-19 pandemic are now on display at Expo 2020 Dubai ahead of the International Day for Women and Girls in Science on 11 February.

Titled ‘Creative Resilience’, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) exhibition sees women “sci-artists” provide testimony of how COVID-19 has transformed human interaction and societies, through painting, photography, digital drawing, block print, sculpture, crochet and film.

The exhibition features pieces from 54 women of various ages from around the world, including neuroscientists, microbiologists, doctors, nurses, medical students, researchers, science communicators, engineers, and mathematicians.

Following its launch in Paris in October 2021, Creative Resilience can be visited at the #UNHub at Mission Possible – The Opportunity Pavilion from 7-24 February. The exhibition will also be available at the Nexus for People & Planet on 11 February as part of Expo 2020 Dubai’s diverse programme of activities for the International Day for Women and Girls in Science.

The International Day for Women and Girls in Science aims to achieve full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, and further achieve gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.
