Dakhla has one of the most beautiful bays in the world
The Bay of Dakhla is ‘a natural jewel’ which joined the World Organisation of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World in 2019, by a decision taken at the annual congress held in Toyama, Japan.
The city of Dakhla will host the 18th Congress of the World's Most Beautiful Bays Association, to be held between 27 November and 1 December 2024. A special edition this time as for the first time it will be held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco.
Mohammed Cherif, President of the Bay of Dakhla Association, made it clear that the Bay of Dakhla, as a ‘natural jewel’, is an enviable natural environment with an exceptional ecosystem for which a ‘sustainable development approach’ is proposed. As indicated by Mohamed Cherif in an official statement on the organisation's own website on the occasion of the forthcoming Congress of the World's Most Beautiful Bays Association.

Remarks by the President of the Bahia de Dakhla Association
Dear colleagues,
I am very proud to present to you this website dedicated to the protection and management of bays, natural spaces of inestimable wealth. As president of the Association Bay of Dakhla, located in the south of Morocco, I am delighted to see that our bay, a natural jewel, has joined the World Organisation of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World in 2019, at the annual congress held in Toyama (Japan).
This event marks a turning point in our commitment to preserve this exceptional ecosystem, and demonstrates our desire to make it part of a sustainable development approach, in harmony with environmental, economic and social needs. The Association Bay of Dakhla, with its unique biodiversity and breathtaking landscapes, embodies the delicate balance between man and nature.
Because of their geographical location and resources, the bays are key players in the fight against climate change, the protection of biodiversity and the promotion of sustainable tourism. It is therefore essential to reflect on innovative and participatory approaches to ensure their preservation while ensuring their development.
By highlighting best practices and challenges faced by bays around the world, this conference will open the dialogue necessary to build together a future in which these natural wonders continue to thrive. The Association Bay of Dakhla, through its inclusion in this prestigious organisation, is firmly committed to this path.
I would like to express my deep appreciation to the researchers, managers and protectors of these areas, whose tireless work contributes to the sustainability of the bays, sources of life and prosperity for future generations.
Mohammed Cherif, President of the Association Bay of Dakhla.
