"De cara al mundo": international analysis on Onda Madrid
"De cara al mundo", the programme on Onda Madrid directed and presented by Javier Fernández Arribas, director of Atalayar, tackles the most important international current affairs issues every Friday.
The programme analyses the election results of the US midterms, which produced good results for the Democrats, bearing in mind that they were expecting a worse debacle against the Republicans, who won a majority in the House of Representatives, while the Senate is very close, pending the final results in three states. Joe Biden thus manages to retain many votes, while Donald Trump fails to get many of his candidates elected. For his part, the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, emerges as the new Republican star against Trump. José María Peredo Pombo, Professor of International Communication and Politics at the European University of Madrid, will explain the key issues regarding the situation of the US Houses after the elections.
The war in Ukraine returns to the microphones of "De cara al mundo". The Russian withdrawal from Kherson is causing reluctance among the Ukrainians, who fear that it is a trap. On the other hand, the option of negotiations between the parties is gaining ground, while monuments to Russian culture continue to be removed and Ukrainian soldiers are to be trained in Spain. Lucas Martín, an expert international analyst, and María Senovilla, special envoy to Ukraine, will shed light on these issues.
Western Sahara is once again at the centre of the programme. The Movement Saharawi for Peace (MSP) insists on the issues to be negotiated with Morocco in its proposal for autonomy for the Sahara under Moroccan sovereignty and rejects the disqualifications of the Polisario Front and the threats of an escalation of violence, assuring that the solution to the conflict must come through negotiation. Hach Ahmed Baricalla, first secretary of the MSP, will explain the position of his organisation on the Saharawi conflict.
As every Friday, the discussion will be led by Atalayar's regular contributors, Claudia Luna, Mexican journalist and writer, and Pedro González, journalist and founder of Euronews, coordinated by Javier Fernández Arribas. They will discuss the elections in the United States, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the controversy over the migration issue between France and Italy and the escalation of violence in the Sahara.
"De cara al mundo", Friday 11 November from 22:05 to 23:00.
