"De cara al mundo": international analysis on Onda Madrid
"De cara al mundo", the programme on Onda Madrid directed and presented by Javier Fernández Arribas, director of Atalayar, deals with international current affairs every week.
The drama in Turkey and Syria due to the strong earthquake and its aftershocks will be dealt with in the radio programme. The earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have wreaked havoc in the affected regions, leaving more than 22,000 dead, thousands injured and extensive damage. Nature once again reminds us of the fragility of human beings and their creations, especially when buildings are constructed in a very dangerous area due to the composition of the plates that converge without adequate materials and safety measures. If we add to this the serious political and strategic constraints in the affected regions, we find two realities: Turkey has been able to receive international aid quickly, while Syria has only received aid from its Russian ally and some Arab countries such as the United Arab Emirates. Hakan Bilgim, director of Médecins du Monde in Turkey, will explain the situation on the ground.
The writer Gonzalo Fernández Parrilla, professor at the Autonomous University of Madrid and translator, publishes an interesting and entertaining book: " Al sur de Tánger.... Un viaje por Marruecos desde principios de los 80 hasta hoy", in which he gives an account of the country's modernisation. The author looks at the shared history between Spain and Morocco. He will talk about it in the microphones of "De cara al mundo".
The programme will continue to analyse the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The European diplomatic offensive by the President of Ukraine, Volodimir Zelenski, who has met with European leaders in London, Paris and Brussels at the European Council to ask them to maintain support and send fighter planes to stop the Russian offensive. On the ground: secrecy from the Ukrainian regular army. Russia is advancing from northern Lugansk, moving tanks and troops. In Bakhmut, the situation is almost desperate for the Ukrainians; meanwhile, shelling has resumed in the city centre of Kharkov. Lucas Martin, an expert international analyst, and María Senovilla, special envoy to Ukraine, will shed light on the situation in Ukraine.
As every Friday, the discussion will be led by Atalayar's regular contributors, Claudia Luna, Mexican journalist and writer, and Pedro González, journalist and founder of Euronews, coordinated by Javier Fernández Arribas. They will talk about the war between Ukraine and Russia, the High Level Meeting between Spain and Morocco and the tragedy in Turkey and Syria caused by the earthquake.
"De cara al mundo", Friday 10 February from 22:05 to 23:00.
