"De cara al mundo": international analysis on Onda Madrid

"De cara al mundo", the programme on Onda Madrid directed and presented by Javier Fernández Arribas, director of Atalayar, tackles international current affairs every week.

This Friday, the radio programme will highlight the strengthening and reinforcement of relations between Morocco and Spain following the speech made by the Spanish President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, before the Congress of Deputies. The head of the Spanish government reaffirmed before Parliament Morocco's status as a friend and fundamental ally, and challenged those who claim to have a different policy towards the Kingdom of Morocco to explain it. Sánchez affirmed: "Morocco is a friendly country, a fundamental ally for Spain's economic development. It is our gateway to Africa. It is a fundamental ally for our security and for orderly migration in Spain and in Europe".

The joint policies on economic, trade, sports, agriculture, energy, immigration and the prospect of autonomy for Western Sahara are examples of the progress that Madrid and Rabat have made in recent years. "More than ever in the history of our democracy, we have a great opportunity to place relations between Spain and Morocco under the sign of genuine and mutually beneficial cooperation," Sánchez told the MPs. "A relationship based on mutual respect, on the absence of unilateral actions", he remarked. The journalist and expert on the Maghreb, Pedro Canales, will offer the keys to this close collaboration between Spain and Morocco.

"De cara al mundo" will also explain the current situation in Sudan. In Sudan, the second ceasefire between the army and the FAR has failed, and the escalation of the war that began last Saturday has already caused the death of more than 270 civilians. Meanwhile, several countries have begun to plan the evacuation of their nationals. Diego Carcedo, journalist and President of the Association of European Journalists, will shed more light on the sad scenario in Sudan.

Meanwhile, the war in Ukraine continues to rage. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg paid a surprise visit to the Ukrainian capital Kiev, where he reaffirmed the Alliance's long-term commitment to the European country: "Ukraine's rightful place is in NATO". A couple of days earlier, it was Russian President Vladimir Putin who visited Kherson as the Ukrainian counteroffensive continues to prepare. Moreover, the Bakhmut front line remains in place while mines pose a serious threat. Lucas Martin, an expert international analyst, and María Senovilla, special envoy to Ukraine, will talk about all these aspects of the war on Ukrainian territory.

As every Friday, the discussion will be led by Atalayar's regular contributors, Claudia Luna, Mexican journalist and writer, and Pedro González, journalist and founder of Euronews, coordinated by Javier Fernández Arribas. They will talk about the good relations between Morocco and Spain, the crisis in Sudan and the development of the war in Ukraine.

"De cara al mundo", Friday 21 April from 22:05 to 23:00.
