No Household Without Food’ campaign raises more than 1.6 million euros
The fifth edition of the ‘No home without food’ campaign, promoted by the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation and CaixaBank, has already collected 1,607,380 euros. This amount is the equivalent of 1,461 tonnes of basic foodstuffs, which will be distributed throughout Spain by the 54 food banks associated with the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL) and its 6,493 collaborating social organisations. Thanks to the donations collected, 5,412 people in vulnerable situations will be guaranteed basic food for a year.
This year's campaign, which will continue until 31 August, is a response to the difficulties faced by the food banks in obtaining supplies due to the decrease in donations. Aware of the urgency of the situation, the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation has once again contributed one million euros to the campaign.
‘The ‘No home without food’ campaign once again reaffirms the commitment of the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation, CaixaBank and its entire ecosystem to society and to people who have great difficulty in covering their basic food needs. It is a clear example of how working together we can improve the lives of those who need it most and a strong impetus for the 54 Food Banks that make up the Spanish Federation of Food Banks to continue making progress in building a fairer society. On behalf of everyone, I would like to thank you for your involvement and commitment’, said the president of FESBAL, Pedro Miguel Llorca.
‘Food banks carry out essential work to help the most vulnerable groups, but in recent years they have suffered a reduction in donations and surpluses. That is why, for the last five years, we have been promoting this campaign together with CaixaBank in favour of food banks and the thousands of families suffering from food poverty in our country’, said Marc Simón, deputy general manager of the “la Caixa” Foundation.
‘Once again this year, together with Fesbal and the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation, we are grateful for the involvement of private customers, companies, volunteers and society in general in the fight against food poverty. In addition to our branch network, donations can be made through CaixaBank's digital channels, which we will keep open until 31 August,’ said Josep Parareda, Director of Social Action at CaixaBank.
Donation channels open until 31 August
The electronic channels of the ‘No Household without Food’ campaign will remain active until 31 August. People who want to help can still send their donation through Bizum with a contribution to cause 38014. Donations can also be made through the CaixaBank ATM network, the CaixaBankNow digital platform and the www.caixabank.es portal for donors who are not CaixaBank customers.
Both FESBAL and the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation and CaixaBank are once again calling on Spanish companies and society to continue to show their solidarity with those who need it most.
In addition to financial donations, collaboration has increased thanks to CaixaBank's corporate customers who have made donations in kind such as milk, pasta, rice, frozen food and other basic food products, as well as to the bank's employees, who have carried out various solidarity actions to raise awareness and raise funds.
Five editions, almost 11 million contributed
The ‘No Household Without Food’ campaign was launched for the first time in 2020 in response to the socio-economic crisis resulting from the pandemic. Between the five editions and to date, almost 11 million euros have been contributed, including 5 million euros from the ‘la Caixa’ Foundation. Thanks to these donations, more than 11,200 tonnes of basic foodstuffs have been collected for vulnerable groups.
