Since Morocco changed its visa system and implemented an e-visa system in July 2022, the numbers have multiplied. Data collected until the end of 2024 indicates a real growth of 95%, with a total of 385,738 e-visas granted.

A figure that is expected to have a positive impact on the tourism sector and contribute to the country's tourism industry reaching a new record in 2025. It should be noted that each e-visa issued is an invitation to explore the country's attractions.

In 2024, the e-visa system showed an increase of 6% compared to the previous year, a trend that indicates the growing interest in Morocco as a tourist destination. On average, around 13,500 e-visas are applied for each month. However, it was in November 2024 that the system reached its highest level, with 16,900 visas issued, evidence of a particularly strong demand during that period.

More than 100 nationalities

The success of this policy is also reflected in the diversity of countries among the beneficiaries. By 2024, 111 nationalities had benefited from this new simplified procedure, proof that Morocco is seeking to establish itself as a destination accessible to everyone.

Among the most represented nations, India stands out with 36,690 e-visas granted, an increase of 52% compared to 2023. This is followed by other countries in Asia and Africa, such as Pakistan with 100%, Egypt with 45% and Nigeria with 36%. Citizens from these countries make up a significant portion of new visitors to Morocco.

This digital system, which is easy and quick to obtain, attracts not only leisure tourists but also business travellers, who can thus enjoy flexibility in organising their trips.

The establishment of the e-visa system is in line with Morocco's broader strategy to promote tourism as a driver of its economic development. With these developments, Rabat hopes to reach 30 million tourists annually by 2030.
