Marruecos afloja las restricciones de COVID-19
As of Tuesday, 1 June, the Moroccan government has opted to implement a series of measures to reduce the country's health restrictions, promoted by the good results of the coronavirus vaccination campaign, which have helped to reduce the rate of infection among its citizens.
The measures include the authorisation of meetings and activities in enclosed spaces for less than 50 people, and in open spaces for no more than 100 people. In case of the need to exceed the limit of attendees, the event must be authorised by the local authorities, the government said in a statement.
Public transport will reach 75 per cent of its capacity, and cultural events, libraries and museums will be allowed to increase the number of attendees to 50 per cent of the seats.
Nightclubs, as well as wedding halls, will be able to reach up to 50 per cent occupancy, with the sole condition of not exceeding 100 people.
With the arrival of summer, beaches and swimming pools must guarantee social distancing, avoiding crowds that could contribute to the spread of the coronavirus. To ensure that this situation does not occur, the government calls on its citizens to take responsibility in order to jointly avoid risky situations.
Mosques closed due to the pandemic will begin to reopen gradually, as confirmed by the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs in coordination with health and administrative authorities. Daily and Friday prayers will be held in all places of worship while maintaining preventive measures, including the use of masks and social distancing, reports The North Africa Post.
The vaccination campaign was launched on 28 January in the North African country, spurred on by vaccine suppliers Sinopharm and AstraZeneca.
Vaccination levels in Morocco have put it at the top of the list of countries that have so far provided the vaccine, being the first African country in the number of doses administered, with more than 14 million. Thus, 8.6 million people have already received their first dose and 5.5 million have completed their vaccination schedule, according to Ministry of Health data.
