Moroccan consulates strengthen their services during weekends and public holidays

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Spain and its twelve consulates general have reaffirmed that serving Moroccan citizens and protecting their interests is their priority. This policy follows the instructions of King Mohammed VI, aimed at ensuring care and assistance for Moroccans living abroad.

Recently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad organised a coordination videoconference with the Embassy in Madrid and all consulates.

The aim was to oversee consular services and improve their efficiency. Among the measures adopted are:

  • Extension of opening hours to the public, Monday to Friday, until 6 p.m.
  • Organisation of weekend and holiday shifts to facilitate procedures for those with prior appointments.
  • Permanent mobilisation of consular staff to respond to citizens' needs.

These actions respond to the increase in applications following the opening of the Spanish Government's exceptional regularisation process. The consulates are speeding up procedures such as the authentication of powers of attorney and the issuance of certificates of good conduct, which are necessary for regularisation.

The Consulate General in Murcia has implemented immediate measures to meet the growing demand, and citizens are reminded to use official channels and avoid intermediaries, which can cause delays or abuse.
