Parris Goebel's 'Voice of Youth - Wonderland' dances bring audiences to their feet at Dubai Expo 2020
Parris Goebel, choreographer to the stars, showed on Sunday why she chose 30 young talents from her native New Zealand to star in a three-day song and dance extravaganza at Dubai Expo 2020's Millennium Amphitheatre called 'Voice of Youth - Wonderland'.
From the energetic opening act - a cover of Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams" - to Earth, Wind and Fire's 1979 disco hit "Boogie Wonderland", Aretha Franklin's "Respect", Keala Settle's "This is Me" from the movie "The World's Greatest Showman", and culminating with the late Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody", the audience was non-stop dancing.
The teenage performers, all between the ages of 16 and 18, surprised the visitors with their fast footwork, never missing a step, with their a cappella singing.
The performers began their performance by singing a Maori song. They also danced the ceremonial Haka dance, which drew a standing ovation from the audience.
Goebel has worked with artists such as Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Janet Jackson and Nicki Minaj.
Voice of Youth - Wonderland takes place at Dubai's Millennium Amphitheatre from 23-25 January and at Jubilee Park on 27 January at 1800 GST. Entry is free to all Expo 2020 ticket holders, but concert-goers are advised to arrive early.
