Reception of nominations for the 2024 Princess of Girona Awards closes on October 31
The deadline for submitting nominations for the fifteenth edition of the Princess of Girona Awards, which are worth 20,000 euros, is 31 October in the categories of Arts and Literature; Business; Scientific and Social Research.
The Princess of Girona Awards promote initiative and effort, scientific research and artistic creativity, solidarity and the development of the talent of young entrepreneurs and innovators between the ages of 16 and 35 who demonstrate a concern for building a fairer world in a globalised environment and who have the capacity to take risks and the motivation to bring about change in society.
In the category of Arts and Literature: awards are given to young people working in any discipline of the arts and literature (film, theatre, dance, gastronomy, music, photography, painting, video, architecture, fashion, sculpture, literature, design and other artistic manifestations). The creative, unique and original character of the candidate is valued.
Business: Aimed at young people with entrepreneurial initiative who have led or are currently promoting original and viable business projects.
Scientific Research: Recognises the careers of young scientists and researchers, including those working in the field of human and social sciences, with outstanding experiences or research projects in their discipline and who possess an entrepreneurial and innovative spirit with potential for future development.
Social: Category aimed at rewarding the career of young people who, through their leadership and/or personal commitment, have achieved success in the creation and promotion of projects that foster the integration of groups at risk of exclusion, with new visions and tangible achievements, within the framework of social entities or companies.
The presentation of candidatures must be formalised through the Foundation's website. Jury meetings will be held during the first half of 2024.
For the first time, the International Award will be deployed in two categories and will reward the work of young people from Latin America up to 35 years of age who have stood out for their work in the field of business and scientific research. The call for entries is open until 30 November.
This award has a twinning vocation and highlights the capacity for achievement and overcoming of young Latin Americans in the development of projects, business and scientific research, demonstrating their ability to induce, in a creative way, positive changes in society. It is aimed exclusively at people who are neither Spanish nationals nor residents in Spain and who are carrying out their professional activity in any Latin American country.
The Princess of Girona Foundation will form a search committee responsible for submitting nominations for these two International Princess of Girona Awards. Only those nominations submitted by the search committee in the form and time indicated by the Foundation will be considered valid.
Each of the categories is endowed with 20,000 euros and a reproduction of a work by contemporary artist Juan Zamora (2017 Princess of Girona Arts and Literature Award).
School of the Year Award
The school of the 21st century is beginning to be invented in some educational centres throughout Spain. Ingenuity and a vocation for making learning a motivating and exciting experience are driving the teachers and governing bodies of these schools and spurring them to imagine other ways of educating and making school.
The Princess of Girona Foundation recognises this determination to break the mould and discover new paths towards educational excellence with the School of the Year Award, which aims to make these pioneering schools the benchmarks for the transformative and creative education that today's society and tomorrow's need.
Generation Award Winners
A total of 74 young people form part of the "Princess of Girona Award Winners Generation". A community of influential young people who are trendsetters in different fields such as business, society, scientific research and the arts and literature.
