The Spanish Human Rights Observatory (OHDE) has been set up to award actions in favour of Human Rights
The Observation Committee of the Spanish Human Rights Observatory (ODHE) has been constituted in a meeting held in Madrid with the aim of identifying and rewarding projects, initiatives and trajectories that represent Human Rights. The Committee will also launch a series of public activities to highlight the validity of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
The Human Rights Observatory of Spain (ODHE) is a private, non-profit entity, which will focus its work on highlighting projects, initiatives and trajectories that serve as positive references in favour of Human Rights, especially those that support vulnerable groups or those with greater difficulty in structuring and defending their rights.
At the same meeting, the green light was given to the organisation of the Catalejo 2022 Awards ceremony, which will take place at the Camilo José Cela University in Madrid, and the winners of this first edition were announced, as follows:
- Clece Company, for its project "Model of labour insertion of victims of gender violence".
- LaLiga for its LaLiga Genuine project.
- Jordi Cervera Martínez, long-distance swimmer, for his sporting and personal commitment to charitable causes.
Finally, the Observation Committee has approved the constitution of different working groups to develop the ODHE's lines of activity for 2022 and 2023, highlighting those initiatives related to the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948.
The director of the ODHE, Mario Rigau, highlighted the importance and significance of setting up this Observatory at a time when Human Rights are a point of reference for a large majority of human beings, who focus a large part of their vital aspirations on the fulfilment of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights approved in 1948.
