The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Valencia presents the exhibition ‘Southern Morocco, where the desert blooms’
The Consulate General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Valencia inaugurated the photographic exhibition ‘Southern Morocco, where the desert blooms’, an activity organised in collaboration with the Valencia International Photo and Debate Festival ‘ValenciaPhoto’ and the Valencia State Public Library, in the heart of the city's historic centre.
The event was attended by a large number of academics, journalists, artists, writers and professionals from the cultural sphere, as well as the Consular Corps accredited in Valencia, which gave the event a marked institutional and diplomatic character.
The exhibition brings together the works of five Moroccan photographers, who have managed to capture, from diverse and deeply sensitive perspectives, the natural beauty, cultural identity and human and economic dynamism of the southern provinces of Morocco, a region undergoing profound transformation.
In his speech, the Consul General emphasised that the southern provinces of Morocco are deeply linked to the Saharo-Hassani culture, an essential pillar of Moroccan heritage alongside the Amazigh and Arab cultures. He also highlighted that the photographs on display are living testimonies of a territory where tradition and modernity intertwine naturally, and where the desert, far from being an arid space, flourishes with life, creativity and hope.
The Consul also highlighted the important development projects underway in this strategic region, which is set to become a privileged link between Europe, America and Africa. The works on display capture aspects as diverse as the immensity of its landscapes, the chromatic intensity of the environment, the hospitality of its inhabitants and the energy of a south that is advancing without renouncing its roots.
Before the inaugural tour, attendees were shown an introductory video summarising the socio-economic transformations currently taking place in the southern provinces.
The Consul General expressed his gratitude to the collaborating institutions, the participating photographers and all the members of the public who had gathered to celebrate this cultural exhibition. With his words, he officially declared the exhibition ‘Southern Morocco, where the desert blooms’ open.
