The regular line which links the ports of Tangier and Malaga starts the new year with two changes which aim to improve the current maritime route. According to Málaga Hoy, Marítima Peregar, the manager of this route which was inaugurated at the beginning of March, has the firm intention of giving this line its own identity. "The consolidated experience of decades that Peregar has in the maritime business is guaranteeing the successful evolution with which this line is being developed", the local newspaper points out.

This maritime route is based on the import and export of products from the automotive, textile and agricultural sectors.

According to Málaga Hoy, the first of the measures taken by Marítima Peregar for the new year is the creation of a delegation in Tangier, Marítima Peregar Maroc. This branch will be in charge of the port manager Mohamed Merroun and will have at first with workers who will distribute their activity both in the dock of Tangier Med and in a central office located in the city of Tangier.

In addition to opening this commercial delegation that will reinforce the necessary steps in Moroccan territory, the second measure that Peregar will carry out in the coming weeks will be to incorporate a new ship to the line. As Malaga Hoy has announced, at the end of January, the ferry Urd, owned by the Swedish company Stena Line, will arrive at the port of Malaga, with capacity for ro-ro cargo and passengers.

Classified as a Ro-Pax, this vessel has a length of 171 metres, 1,600 linear metres for cargo and capacity for 186 passengers in cabins and seats. The Urd is currently sailing in Northern Europe, although it will arrive in Malaga with a one-year charter with a purchase option, a possibility of acquisition which, according to Marítima Peregar, could be made effective before March as long as this vessel meets the necessary expectations for the maritime line, according to Malaga Hoy.

These two new year measures will be completed with the forecast that before the end of the first quarter of 2024, passenger embarkations will begin. All these improvements in the line between Malaga and Tangier, which will continue to maintain its seven weekly rotations, will serve to increase the activity of the route
