The mayor of Salou highlights the return of the ‘Festa al Cel’ in 2026 at Fitur
Salou has had a strong presence at the Fitur 2026 international tourism fair at Ifema in Madrid.
The Catalan town is a major attraction on the Costa Daurada and its tourist offering is one of the most outstanding in Catalonia, with a mix of all kinds of tourist activities that are not limited to just sun and beach.
Salou offers a wide range of attractive tourist options for those who want to make the most of their holidays and free time. The Catalan municipality offers gastronomy, unique historical heritage and other attractions that draw tourists throughout the year.
One of the activities that forms part of Salou's attractions is the ‘Festa al Cel’.
Salou will once again host the ‘Festa al Cel’ in September 2026. This air festival is an unprecedented event with dozens of air shows, including aerobatic teams, fighter planes, helicopters and historic aircraft from all over Europe.
The mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, announced at the Fitur international tourism fair in Madrid that the ‘Festa al Cel’ will be bigger than last year's and will be international in nature.
Created in 1991, the ‘Festa al Cel’ has been held in venues such as Barcelona, Mataró and Lleida-Alguaire, and has established itself as one of the most iconic air shows on the European continent. It made its debut in Salou in 2025 and now returns in 2026, with a privileged location facing the sea and an expected attendance of up to 300,000 people.
Pere Granados expressed his confidence that 2026 will be an excellent year for tourism in his municipality, ‘which will improve on the excellent figures for 2025,’ as he explained at the Fitur 2026 tourism fair in Madrid. The mayor of Salou stated that the Catalan municipality is a ‘first-rate’ tourist destination.
In addition to reviewing Salou's relevant tourist offerings and announcing the return of the ‘Festa al Cel’, Pere Granados also referred to the hot topic of funding received by tourist municipalities such as Salou, as they ‘must guarantee services such as security and cleanliness for a population that increases tenfold at certain times of the year’ due to tourist visits. That is why he defended the tourist tax, ‘as tourists must also contribute to these services’.
