Within the framework of the club's work strategy, the president highlighted the primordial role of youth in the success of the association's projects and activities, which is committed to sustainable tourism as an efficient tool in the preservation and prosperity of the bays in the world.

The Bays Club is committed to sustainable tourism

‘We have recently received an invitation from China as an official representative of sustainable tourism’, declared the club's president, Louis Thébault, praising the collaboration with experts in the field of sustainable tourism, through the promotion of observation projects that aim to study the repercussions of climate change, innovative solutions on a geographical or economic level and the evolution of populations, which represents one of the interesting achievements of the Association.

The Club's mission is basically to support the bays in facing the environmental decisions that may be taken by some States or governments; thus helping them to protect their natural resources and to develop their potential in full respect of the environment.

In this sense, ecotourism represents a key to the work of the World's Most Beautiful Bays Association, being a crucial sector in the development of the bays while respecting the environment and conserving their natural resources, in order to benefit the local population without losing sight of the impact of the exploitation of this natural potential which must not be exhausted, but must be preserved for future generations.

Youth, key to the development and protection of the world's bays

In its strategy for the protection and development of bays, the World's Most Beautiful Bays Club is committed to youth as an essential actor for the success of the association's mission in terms of respect for the environment and the fight against climate change.

Within the framework of a participatory approach, the Youth Committee plays a very important role in the organisation, giving the Association a new lease of life thanks to the commitment of several young people from different bays around the world to the organisation's programme and activities.

Dominique Doucette, Chair of the Youth Committee for the World's Most Beautiful Bays Association, said: ‘The Youth Committee project, created in January 2023, aims to raise awareness of environmental issues among young people, transmit knowledge in this field and share findings and successful experiences among young representatives of the world's bays.

‘We are convinced that the environment and the protection of the bays is everyone's business. Therefore, the project aims to establish a structure of meetings and congresses involving the youth of the world, as well as to have representatives everywhere, especially on the African continent,’ said Doucette.

The president of the Youth Committee underlined the importance of having a representative or advisor on each continent to actively participate in the elaboration of common projects and the organisation of activities of great interest to this category of public, in fields such as culture, sport and creativity in the service of the protection and prosperity of the bays.

For his part, Marian Daumas, Vice-President of the Youth Committee, praised the organisation of the World Congress of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World in Dakhla, which he said was an opportunity to discover the region and at the same time raise the profile of the bay on an international level.

‘The Youth Committee aspires to launch projects in the bays of the world aimed especially at young people active in Europe, America, Asia and Africa where Morocco is part of this ambition through its beautiful bays of Dakhla and Agadir,’ emphasised Daumas, mentioning that ’the committee is always looking for the integration of young people from different countries and bays of the world to enlarge this group of dynamic actors in the world.

‘We have noticed how the bay of Dakhla is in continuous economic and tourist development which is noticeable in all parts of the city and which is in line with the environmental implications imposed by the current situation being recognised as one of the most beautiful bays in the world,’ concluded the vice-president of the Youth Committee, pointing to the youth painting and video competitions which they promote and which ensure that these activities are perpetuated over time and integrate the maximum number of members.

The most beautiful bays in the world at the service of the environment

The President of the World's Most Beautiful Bays Club, Louis Thébault, emphasised ‘the work carried out on the opening of the association to the world and its interest in Africa; discussing current issues with more than 19 bays in the world during the year 2024, which enables the sharing of visions and strategies for the protection of the environment’.

Thébault also underlined the importance of launching an E-bulletin as an indispensable complement to consolidate the links, reinforce the association's commitment to the challenge of climate change, and gain more and more international recognition and visibility at the United Nations and UNESCO.

The aim is to involve the bays in a strong international action with a strong media impact and local recognition. This allows the association to federate and strengthen its network of contacts, to make its work known and to open up to civil society as a partner in the club's projects aimed at tackling global environmental challenges.

‘The association's policy, which has been internationally recognised for 27 years when the club was first created, has made it possible to engage members in interesting debates on today's environmental challenges, advocating sustainable development and clean energy,’ added Louis Thébault.
