Three Cultures Foundation commemorates Holocaust Remembrance Day
Once again this year, the Fundación Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo is commemorating Holocaust Remembrance Day and the Prevention of Crimes against Humanity, a date set by UNESCO to commemorate the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp on 27 January 1945. The United Nations General Assembly officially proclaimed this date as the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust, and we at the Foundation join in this important event.
This year, the event will take place on Wednesday 2 February, at 19:00, and will be held in collaboration with Centro Sefarad-Israel, the Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain and the Jewish Community of Seville.
The commemoration will feature - in addition to poetry readings and musical accompaniment - the testimony of Eva Leitman Bohrer, a Holocaust survivor saved by the Spanish diplomat Ángel Sanz-Briz, the presence of his granddaughter, Adela Andrada-Vanderwilde Sanz-Briz, and the president of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain, Isaac Benzaquén, who will participate in the candle-lighting ceremony in memory of the victims of the Holocaust, along with representatives of the Jewish Community of Seville, among others.
