UM6P, a pioneer in the use of ChatGPT Edu

Ranked among the top 500 universities in the world and with more than 42 study programmes and 7,300 students, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University will be the first on the African continent to rely on the use of the artificial intelligence tool ChatGPT Edu.
This will mark a milestone in the North African country's education system. Personalised services, innovative learning and increased efficiency are the main advantages that the OpenAI tool will provide.
‘This implementation represents a significant leap in our strategy to create a system supported by artificial intelligence,’ Hicham El Habti, president of UM6P. ‘By using ChatGPT Edu, we are looking to technology to help us promote excellence,’ he said.

In the same vein, Leah Belsky, CEO and Vice President of Education at OpenAI, and Jalah Charaf, UM6P's Chief Digital Officer, clarified that the use of artificial intelligence tools is extremely powerful in learning and in perfecting study methodologies.
According to Belsky, the intention of the tool is to provide information and curriculum at the highest level to enable Moroccan students to access the latest and greatest theses on any subject.
Digital innovation
ChatGPT Edu will be used, in addition to a methodology tool, to support university staff in streamlining paper developments and corrections, helping to simplify complex subjects by analysing metadata and using big data to implement innovation and exploration capabilities.

The uses of the tool are limitless. Designed with privacy and security controls customised to each country's data protection laws, ChatGPT Edu ensures and guarantees users that all their research remains protected. Since its inauguration in 2017, Mohammed VI Polytechnic University has focused its efforts on imparting knowledge through research and innovation.
The implementation of artificial intelligence is a recognition of the commitment of the UM6P, a strong advocate of the use of digital tools, in the new path that these will mark in all areas of society.
This is confirmed by the results of the recent Times Higher Education study, which showed that the authorities in Benguerir are planning to turn the city, located 80 kilometres north of Marrakech, into the ‘Silicon Valley’ of Africa. In addition to the Benguerir campus, UM6P has facilities in Rabat, which will also begin implementing the use of OpenAI's new tool, ChatGPT Edu.
