United Arab Emirates sends medical aid to Russian Dagestan in fight against COVID-19
The United Arab Emirates sent an aid plane carrying nine tonnes of medical supplies to Dagestan, Russia, on Wednesday to reinforce efforts to stop the spread of VIDOC-19.
This supply will help approximately 9,000 medical professionals in their work to contain the virus.
Commenting on the aid delivery, Maadhad Hareb Jaber Alkhayeli, UAE ambassador to Russia, said: "Russia has been and will long remain a key partner of the UAE on the political, cultural and economic fronts. When difficult circumstances arise, such partnerships are more important than ever to strengthen ties of solidarity and extend life-saving assistance around the world.
"By delivering the aid to Dagestan today, the UAE is also affirming its commitment to work alongside Russia's leaders and frontline medical workers to overcome this pandemic," he said.
On 1 June, the UAE sent a shipment of medical supplies to the Chechen capital, Grozny, in Russia, to reinforce the fight against COVID-19.
To date, the UAE has responded to the COVID-19 crisis by providing more than 701 metric tons of aid to 61 countries in need, supporting more than 701,000 medical professionals in the process.
