Emirates men's basketball team teaches young players to hone their skills at Expo Dubai
For once, the UAE men's national basketball team didn't have to worry about possession as it taught young hopefuls how to improve their skills at the Sport, Fitness and Wellbeing Hub at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The fun-filled day was packed with basketball-themed events, including a 'Come and Play' session with UAE national team players, a 'Half-Court Shooting Challenge' contest for adults and a 'Free Throw Contest' for kids, with great prizes up for grabs and several joint games between professional and amateur players of all ages. .
Dr. Mounir bin al-Habib, national team coach and technical director of the UAE Basketball Association, said, "We are here to promote Expo 2020 through basketball, and also to entertain visitors and popularize the game. And we have come to celebrate the UAE's 50th National Day, which makes it a double celebration. We are very excited to be here."
Captain Mohamed Abdel Latif said, "We were feeling a bit tired from our tours, but when we arrived at the Sport, Fitness and Wellbeing Hub at Expo 2020 Dubai, we felt great as our energy was renewed by the beautiful atmosphere and the kids who love the game. We played basketball just for fun, especially with the kids, where we tried to teach them skills and help them improve. Everyone had a lot of fun."
