Haaland and Mbappé, together at Real Madrid?
Real Madrid continue to work quietly but firmly to build a team that can compete at the highest level in Europe and win the Champions League again. The two leading names that have been linked with Real Madrid in recent days are Norwegian Erling Haaland and Frenchman Kylian Mbappé.
If the president, Florentino Pérez, manages to bring these two strikers together for next season, the competitive level of the team would rise exponentially, with two players who ensure goals and the generation of permanent attacking play, in addition to their insulting youth (Haaland is 21 years old and Mbappé 22).
Both operations would once again place Real Madrid as one of the teams with one of the most powerful forwards in the international arena, at the level of the best, adding Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr, two players who are giving a great performance in recent times, both the Frenchman after many years of success with Real Madrid, and the Brazilian, also with a whole future ahead of him to continue demonstrating his verticality in attack, his explosiveness and his constant danger in front of goal.
It looks like Mbappé will join Real Madrid at zero cost after finishing his contract with Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2022. Florentino Pérez tried to sign him for this season but was met with a refusal from the Qatari ownership of the Parisian club despite an offer of 180 million euros for a player who only had one year left on his contract.
Many reports in the media over the last few days have suggested that Mbappé will sign for Real Madrid when his contract with PSG expires, as it has been said that he has always wanted to play for Real Madrid. This is despite PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi repeating that the French club's firm objective is to renew the French international attacker's contract.
Now that Madrid's offer has been rejected, the only thing left to do is wait for Mbappé to be released from his contract to see if he ends up in the Spanish capital.
Erling Haaland has a valid contract with Borussia Dortmund and the transfer price would be high considering the Norwegian striker's level, but according to various published reports, there is a pact between the player's agent, Mino Raiola, and Borussia itself for the German club to facilitate his departure in 2022. In other words, the price for his departure from the German club would be reduced (only for certain clubs, as was agreed when Haaland signed for Borussia, according to different media reports), although, according to the daily AS, there is no price set in advance for this reduced transfer, so we can expect a fierce fight to sign the Norwegian.
In fact, it has been suggested from various quarters that PSG could swoop for Haaland if Mbappé finally heads to Madrid, so there would be a very interesting bid between the French club and the Chamartín club.
Several voices have indicated that Haaland could be a clear target for Real Madrid, which generates some expectation about the possible signing of the striker by the Madrid team. For example, Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, said that after the money raised by Real Madrid from the sale of players such as Varane and Achraf, they have "money in the kitty to sign Mbappé and Haaland together".
Meanwhile, Karl Heinz Rummenigge, a leading figure at Bayern Munich, said Haaland is a major investment, and he would not rule out Haaland ending up at Real Madrid. "They might open the cash register a bit in the summer and possibly get Haaland and Mbappé," said the former Bavarian footballer and manager.
Therefore, there are already certain personalities in the world of football who can see Haaland's arrival at Real Madrid with some clarity.
