Morocco remains the third best women's football team in Africa

The Moroccan women's football team remains the third best team in Africa, according to the latest rankings by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), which places the North African team in 64th place in the world.
The Atlas Lionesses are only surpassed by Nigeria, ranked 36th, and South Africa, ranked 54th.
Although it maintains its status on the African continent, the Moroccan women's team has dropped four places in the global rankings, according to FIFA's latest rankings published in December 2024.
The Moroccan national team lost a total of 12.42 points, despite playing more matches than most national teams during this period.
The team led by former Spanish coach Jorge Vilda continues to perform at a high level, especially considering that it reached the final of the last Women's Africa Cup of Nations for the second time in a row.
In the last final, they lost at home, at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, against Nigeria by a narrow score of 3-2 after leading by two goals.
Jorge Vilda continues to do a great job since joining the Moroccan team after achieving resounding success with the Spanish women's team by winning the 2024 World Cup.
Spain, the current world champions, are at the top of the FIFA world rankings, having recently reached the final of the Women's Euro Cup, which they lost on penalties to England after a 1-1 draw.
Behind Spain is the powerful United States team.
