Moroccan RedOne will produce Real Madrid's new anthem
Once again, Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid, commissioned the famous Moroccan singer-songwriter RedOne to produce the football team's new anthem. The artist officially announced the news through his Instagram account, where he expressed his gratitude towards Florentino Pérez, whom he defined as ‘the best president of all time’.
‘Thank you for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to be part of Real Madrid's history’, added RedOne, whose real name is Nadir Khayat, who also produced the song ‘Hala Madrid y nada más’ after the club won ‘La Décima’.
This song, so special for the madridistas, was composed by RedOne because of his admiration and ‘love’ for Real Madrid since he was a child. ‘I always thought that one day, if I became famous, I would do something for Madrid because it represents a lot to me’, said the producer at the time.
In addition to composing songs dedicated to Real Madrid, which he considers the club of ‘his life’, RedOne has a long experience of bringing music and sport together. In 2006 he made his debut in football music with ‘Bamboo’, designated as the official song of the FIFA World Cup.
Recently, Khayat was appointed FIFA's Executive Director of Entertainment and produced two official songs for the 2022 World Cup, ‘Haya Haya’ and ‘Arhbo’. Finally, he composed ‘Dirou Niya’, a song dedicated especially to the Moroccan fans.
Outside football, RedOne is known for the production of famous songs such as Just Dance, Poker Face, LoveGame, Bad Romance, Alejandro and Lady Gaga's Judas. He has also worked with Michael Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias, Britney Spears, Cheb Khaled, U2, Akon, Mylène Farmer, JLS, Mohombi, Kat DeLuna, The Cheetah Girls, Usher and One Direction. RedOne established his own label called 2101 Records.
