Morocco wins the African Nations Football Championship

The Atlas Lions defeat Madagascar 3-2 in a close and exciting final to become the first country to win the title for the third time

Morocco becomes the first African country to win the African Nations Championship, CHAN 2025, for the third time, winning 3-2 in the final in Nairobi, after initially trailing against Madagascar, the surprise team of the tournament.

This time around, the championship was very demanding, being held in three venues, but the Moroccan team, led by Tarik Sektioui, showed solidity and reliability in overcoming the knockout stages and coming back from an early goal down in the final. Almost at the end of the match, they had to make another effort when the Malagasy players managed to equalize at 2-2, demonstrating the ability and resources that had taken them to the final.

With 10 minutes to go, Morocco scored a great goal that gave them the victory and the championship, thanks to a tremendous shot by Oussama Lamlioui, who became the hero of the Moroccan team.

Moroccan soccer continues to shine on the African continent and is confirmed as a major commitment to the country's overall development and modernization, representing a key element that reinforces Moroccan identity and pride and reaffirms King Mohammed VI's commitment to the sport, following the creation of the first soccer school, the great success in the World Cup in Qatar with a fourth-place finish, and the organization of the Africa Cup of Nations at the end of this year and the FIFA World Cup in 2030 together with Spain and Portugal.

The organization of this global event places Morocco at a key moment in the increase of its investments and development of various sectors of Moroccan society, mainly for the modernization of transport, logistics, trade, and tourism infrastructure.
