Positive reactions and encouraging comments in the Moroccan media following the designation of the 2030 World Cup host country

Directly after the announcement of the official approval of the bid for the organisation of the 2030 World Cup by the trio Morocco-Spain-Portugal by the FIFA Executive Committee, messages, comments and even positive analyses shed light on this historic decision by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, not only in the three countries, but in all corners of the globe.  

As a country honoured to be admitted, firstly, as host of the Africa Cup and, secondly, to host the 2030 World Cup, those interested in the subject, be they journalists, analysts, diplomats or football specialists, have not ceased, since the news broke, to analyse and study this victory from various points of view: political, economic, social and moral.

It is a very interesting event that has attracted the interest of all the national and international media, as it is a very special exception in the history of world football, since it will bring together two neighbouring continents on the one hand and a distant third, bringing together three lands on the globe that are different in their cultures and similar in their ambitions.  

As a natural consequence of this wonderful and unparalleled surprise for the Moroccan people, the country's press has been armed with its media to, first, celebrate this achievement and, second, to analyse its horizons between now and 2030, envisaging the future of the Kingdom as a new world leader capable of positively influencing the international geopolitical reality.

On the national scene, there has been an atmosphere of joy and pride shared by all Moroccans since the moment King Mohammed VI announced to his people the Kingdom's achievement, together with two neighbouring countries, Spain and Portugal, of officially hosting the 2030 World Cup.

The fact that Morocco will host the 2030 World Cup along with two European countries and three Latin American countries is an event that has reached the whole world through the Arab countries, precisely those of the Arab Maghreb have commented positively on Morocco's achievement.  

For their part, Tunisian analysts have highlighted how "Morocco has become a model to follow, going step by step towards development". "Despite limited means, it has managed to surpass some countries and has become a comfortable state capable of organising a major tournament such as the World Cup", an analyst said on a Tunisian live TV programme.

In the same context, Algerian opposition activist and journalist Oualid Kabir congratulated the Moroccan people in his statement, saying that "they have the right to be proud of their King and their homeland", adding: "Moroccans work and we in Algeria speak".  

Many print and broadcast media have begun to analyse the fruits of this achievement for the country's economy, as an opportunity to consolidate Morocco's international confidence.

Thus, most of the media have focused their analysis on the positive consequences of this event; on the one hand, in terms of economic development, including foreign investment and the improvement of infrastructures, opening ways to consolidate partnerships and cooperation between Rabat, Madrid and Lisbon.

A partnership that is expected to start today and continue until it achieves the desired success and will continue until after the World Cup.  

On the other hand, this event will also contribute to strengthening the soft power exercised by the Kingdom of Morocco, through its diplomatic efforts and efficient strategies in the management of political crises, health risks and natural disasters in an area that is not only national, but continental and international.

This event will certainly be an opportunity to promote Morocco's image and Made in Morocco on a global scale and to sustain its position as a major player on the international scene, being the African leader learning from the European experience

The King of Morocco was the first to give the news to his people, sharing with all Moroccans around the world the victory of having been unanimously chosen Morocco-Spain-Portugal as the only bid to host the 2030 World Cup. The Alawi monarch congratulated in a special communiqué from the Royal Cabinet the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Portugal, stressing "the commitment of his country to work in complete synergy with the host countries".

The decision of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association Council has been a matter of great interest for the six countries from three continents, particularly for including for the first time an African country: Morocco. Thus, it has generated very positive reactions from the leaders of the countries concerned by the championship. The Portuguese Prime Minister sees this decision as "a hugely successful event and an opportunity to show that they are countries capable of organising major events".

For Spain, hosting the World Cup together with Morocco and Portugal is "a great source of pride, as well as an opportunity to demonstrate the true values of sport such as equality, solidarity and healthy competition". Pedro Sánchez, the Spanish President of the Government, wrote on his account on the X platform.

For FIFA President Gianni Infantino, "celebrating football on two continents sends a message of peace, tolerance and inclusion", reflecting football's new mission as a soft weapon that can fight for peace and tolerance and coexistence in a world full of conflicts, wars and natural disasters.

Having won the honour of hosting the Africa Cup 2025, Moroccan stadiums will be ready to host the Africa Cup matches and then the World Cup which will be an unparalleled success, the Moroccan press not only spread this achievement far and wide, but also thanked the Alawite King and Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, for this historic triumph.
