International awareness

International awareness and pressure are essential at this time to assert the real result of the elections in Venezuela. The results provided by the opposition can be checked on the internet table by table. There is an international outcry calling on the Chavista regime led by a pathetic Nicolás Maduro to finally publish the election results. Of course, the real ones.

They are trying to buy time to impose their own interests in order to stay in power, as they have done all these years. Unfortunately, those of us who had been warning that the Chavistas would not give up power so easily are getting it right. There have been many years of deceit, and trickery in order to stay in power and continue to carry out a disastrous administration with obscure relations with prominent drug trafficking cartels, as condemned in the United States.

Nicolás Maduro's crude threats are becoming a tragic reality. He is raising his voice to say that he will defend the people he is keeping without enough food, medicine, transport, security, a life in subhuman conditions with a cruel repression that has forced more than 8 million Venezuelans to leave the country. With these Venezuelans, one of the most serious electoral frauds took place. Of the 8 million, about 5 million were eligible to vote, but only about 65,000 were allowed to vote.

Thousands of Venezuelans took to the streets of Caracas in a huge demonstration of rejection of the Chavista dictatorship of Maduro and assuring that they are not afraid they defy the action of the murderous Chavista paramilitary motorists who have already claimed the lives of 20 opponents.

The dictatorship expels the representatives of the countries that demand transparency and the real minutes. Will it do so with José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero after Spain and other European countries have asked for something elementary to be able to determine with legitimacy and rigour who won the elections? Brazil, Colombia and Chile are countries with weight in the so-called Puebla or Sao Paolo group, whose leaders are aware that it is totally unacceptable for a supposed left-wing government not to accept electoral defeat and hand over power in an orderly and peaceful manner.

Maduro is following the lamentable example of Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua, who surrendered power when he lost the elections to Violeta Barrios de Chamorro, but then regained it and never again allowed free elections. We appeal to international conscience, but only the interests of China, Russia and Iran, which play a key role on the international stage and use Venezuela as one more piece in their international game where prisoners are exchanged, count. We will see what happens with Venezuela.
