Sephardic music with the group Milo Ke Mandarini at the Three Cultures Foundation
Once again, the Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation dedicates the month of September to Sefarad and its legacy. As part of this, it is offering a concert of Sephardic and Mediterranean music by the group Milo Ke Mandarini.
This concert is an example of the musical contribution that Sephardic culture has left to other cultures.
Isabel Martín and Carlos Ramírez, members of this group, share in a very personal way the feeling of traditional music and popular culture of the Mediterranean area. Originally from Toledo, Carlos Ramírez and Isabel Martín formed this duo in 2008 and have been touring the different stages and folk festivals of the peninsula ever since.
Their project, which draws on the most Iberian roots, narrates the Sephardic diaspora and is performed with instruments from the eastern Mediterranean or built with their own hands. Sounds that are rediscovered and reinvented, just as in times past.
Their live performances bring this music to life with great sensitivity and respect, interpreting it in a fresh and genuine way, without forgetting the identity and nuances that characterise it. The result is an acoustic and minimalist sound full of depth and meaning.
Tickets available from 18 September.
