The Three Cultures Foundation of the Mediterranean is honoured to collaborate with the Spanish-Moroccan al-Idrisi Foundation in the organisation of the International Congress ‘The Almoravid and Almohad Civilisation in the Maghreb and al-Andalus’.

The Congress, which will be held in Seville and Carmona from 25 to 27 October, will include both conferences and guided tours of significant monuments of the Almoravid and Almohad heritage in Seville and its province.

Researchers, archaeologists and experts from other disciplines will attend a conference whose aim is to ‘honour the legacy of our ancestors and raise it to the level it deserves’, in the words of the historian Ahmed Tahiri, president of the al-Idrisi Hispano-Moroccan Foundation.

The academic programme includes, among others, a tribute to the director and coordinator of the Congress, Fatima-Zahra Aitoutouhen Temsamani, cultural and international relations coordinator of the al-Idrisi Foundation, as well as a posthumous tribute to Rafael Valencia, professor of Arab and Islamic Studies at the University of Seville and elected member and director of the Real Academia Sevillana de Buenas Letras.

The Three Cultures Foundation will host the opening dinner of the Congress at its headquarters on Friday 25 October at 20:00. Admission is strictly restricted to conference participants.
