"Three Cultures in the Family" is born, entertainment to enjoy weekends with children
The Three Cultures Foundation has always given special importance to children and young people through different lines of action that have concentrated, above all, on school children. However, the arrival of the COVID-19 and the limitations derived from this pandemic have meant the cessation of many of the activities that were planned from the educational centres, while at the same time it has led to significant restrictions in terms of timetables.
In view of this situation, the Foundation has decided to change this offer to continue reaching children and young people in other ways and, furthermore, to offer them the possibility of sharing this experience with their loved ones. It is in this spirit that 'Three Cultures in the Family' was born, a specific programme that will, in principle, be developed over several weekends in November and December 2020, with two very different themes: 'Kān yā mākān' and 'Children of Ziryab'.
Under the name 'Kān yā mākān' (this is what the phrase "once upon a time" sounds like in Arabic), several oral narration shows will be proposed to discover surprising stories that will make the spectators' imagination fly by the hand of Pirates of Alexandria (21st November), Alicia Bululú and Pepe Maestro (12th and 19th December, respectively).
Furthermore, in 'Children of Ziryab' we will delve into the richness and diversity of music, a cycle of Sunday concerts with the group 'Ninki Nanka' (22 November, African music), the show 'A patio with a lot of art' (flamenco with Titiritraun Traun Titiriteros, 29 November), the show 'The Jellyfish Tamer' (Kélzmer music, 13 December) and an interesting proposal to commemorate Arab Language Day: "Riding a Nuba" (20 December).
In the words of the director of this institution, José Manuel Cervera: "This programme is our small tribute to the families, as in the Foundation we felt the need to offer this gift to those children who have been an example to all of society in the hardest moments of this pandemic, and, of course, to their families, who have combined work, parenting, online classes and an endless number of tasks in such a difficult scenario as the one we are living in". "For us, 'Three Cultures in the Family' is an opportunity to rediscover the Foundation, enjoying cultural diversity through its stories and rhythms and, at the same time, to continue supporting those who, despite the many difficulties they encounter in these circumstances, continue to dedicate themselves to creating culture in Andalusia", explained the director.
Activities will begin at 12:00 am with free admission after purchasing the invitations from the links available on the Foundation's website (www.tresculturas.org). Capacity has been limited to 100 invitations to ensure that distances are maintained and the Foundation operates a protocol in its facilities (access after temperature control, obligatory use of the mask at all times, disinfection of the rooms and equipment, etc.) in order to continue to enjoy a safe culture.
Along with the implementation of this new family programme, the Foundation has adapted the rest of the activities to the current restrictions on timetables. Thus, the traditional 'Cinema on Tuesdays' sessions at 20:30 (which had been brought forward to 19:00 after the first limitations imposed by the authorities), have now become 'Cinema on Saturdays', with screenings at 12:00 am in the Three Cultures projection room.
In addition, the long-awaited presentation of the book 'Un solar abandonado' (An Abandoned Plot), the first novel by Moroccan writer Mohamed El Morabet, representing this new generation of Spanish-based authors who have chosen to write in Spanish, will take place at 12 am on Saturday 28 November.
At the same time, the Foundation continues to promote the online participation of its audience, aware that restrictions are not only time restrictions, but also those of mobility. In this sense, various contents are being offered such as virtual 360º exhibitions, appointments for the INTREPIDA plus programme with female entrepreneurs, participatory forums for the 'Halal Market' project, book club meetings and open cinema sessions. In addition, many of the on-site activities can also be followed live on the Foundation's Youtube channel.
