The Three Cultures Foundation, within the framework of its European project INTREPIDA plus, is organising a new event which on this occasion will allow visitors to discover two different techniques for decorating artistic ceramics, thus having a first practical contact with this craft while learning about its history.

Although there are few workshops left, initiatives are being born that bring us closer to a historical past, which invites us to be initiated into the millenary practice of ceramics, the different techniques, styles, trends, uses and history of an art that has never fallen into disuse and that provides a certain enjoyment through contact with clay. Modelling it, composing and decomposing its form in a risky and changing dance throughout the whole process of elaboration.

On this occasion, the Yoko Estudio project is presented, born 38 years ago by the hand of Yoko Akabane, who will give this workshop in a space open to anyone who has artistic interests and wants to learn the techniques of ceramics with all kinds of materials, tools, advice and guidance in ceramics with a professional in the field who has been teaching for almost 40 years.

Yoko Estudio is located in Almirante Espinosa street, in Seville, where the ceramist and teacher Yoko Akabane de Lamor, born in São Paulo (Brazil) although of Japanese parents, began her wonderful pottery adventure. She acquired her knowledge of ceramics in Seville, where she travelled to do her doctorate in history and became fascinated by the traditional pottery of Triana. Since then she has been studying, researching and working with everything that ceramics entails. At the same time she is dedicated to teaching: from the traditional use of the potter's wheel to research into pastes and glazes, as well as the important study of shapes and their design.

The centre is adapted to the needs of each visitor. The teaching is individualised, with no need for previous knowledge. The atmosphere is calm and pleasant and each student has a large work space.

This INTREPIDA appointment will allow you to get to know this project from its headquarters in person. There is a small group in the morning and a small group in the afternoon. This is a free activity that provides the necessary material in a suitable environment that has all the sanitary measures for the development of the activity.

The activity is free and for adults. Places are limited, so prior registration is essential in order to attend.

The Three Cultures of the Mediterranean Foundation is the Main Beneficiary of the INTREPIDA plus project, together with the following partners from Spain and Portugal:
