Avangrid, a subsidiary of Iberdrola, expands its energy sales agreement with CPS Energy in the United States
Avangrid, Iberdrola's subsidiary in the United States, has expanded its long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with CPS Energy, the country's largest municipal provider of electricity and natural gas services.
Thanks to this agreement, another 159.2 MW from the Peñascal wind farm will be added, doubling the contract from 160.8 MW to 320 MW. The additional energy capacity will help supply power to around 40,000 new homes.
Avangrid owns and operates seven renewable facilities in Texas, including the recently completed True North Solar project in Falls County. These plants have a combined operating capacity of nearly 1.6 gigawatts (GW), capable of providing clean energy to approximately 400,000 homes, and have contributed more than 115 million dollars in property taxes over their lifetime.
