In order to strengthen its links with Morocco, the airline Binter has launched three new destinations: Essaouira, Tangier and Guelmim. These new direct flights take off from Lanzarote and become the company's largest route schedule with Morocco.

Binter, also known as Binter Canarias, was founded in 1989 as a regional aviation company belonging to Iberia. Its objective was to connect the Canary Islands, always offering the best service with the minimum social and environmental impact.

Since then, the Spanish airline has become the reference in the transport sector in the Canary Islands, also playing a prominent role on the European scene, obtaining several awards from the European Regions Airline Association (ERA). The company offers its customers a high quality service and is actively involved in the community, demonstrating its willingness to remain faithful to its commitment to the Canary Islands archipelago.

According to Binter, the flights will be operated by an ATR 72 aircraft with a capacity of 72 passengers, as its name indicates. This type of aircraft is characterised by being the preferred model for short-haul flights due to its short take-off and landing capacity. With improved fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions, the ATR 72 turboprop stands out as an environmentally friendly, low-polluting aircraft.

These flights will connect the islands with Essaouira twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. As for Tangier, the company will land once, on Wednesdays, from 4 July to 12 September. Thus, by 2023, there will be more than 78,000 seats on its previous destinations, with more than 36 weekly flights.

As the media outlet Yabiladi reports, the operation has been made possible thanks to the efforts of the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT). The president met last March in Rabat with the Moroccan government to decide on the implementation of a collaboration agreement between the two parties to strengthen their commitment to reviving tourism and connectivity between the two territories.
