The airline Emirates is resuming flights to five European cities (London, Frankfurt, Paris, Brussels and Zurich) with four weekly flights to London Heathrow airport and three weekly flights to the other cities, according to a statement from the company available on its website. The company has explained that they will only carry passengers travelling from the Emirates, commercial goods and basic necessities.

"These passenger services are limited to those that meet the entry requirements set by the destination countries. They are an opportunity for those who wish to return to their countries and with their families," Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the company's general manager, explained in the press release issued by the company.

Al Maktoum said they hope to resume the company's operations as soon as possible, although they are aware that many cities will still take time to return to normal. "We can only recover all our connections when the travel conditions are lifted. We are in contact with the authorities to keep abreast of updates. We will announce any additional services when they become available," says the CEO.

Emirates will operate Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on these routes, offering both business and economy class seats. Flights can be booked by passengers at www.emirates.com. Travel restrictions exist on destinations operated by this company and travellers are urged to check entry criteria before flying.

For health and safety reasons, Emirates has made some changes to the way flights are operated. No magazines or other printed reading material will be available to passengers and although food and drink will continue to be offered on board, packaging and presentation will be changed to reduce contact during meals. The Emirates Lounge and Chauffeur Drive services will be temporarily unavailable during this period. In addition, all Emirates aircraft will undergo extensive cleaning and disinfection in Dubai after each trip.
