Economic development continues in the northern part of Morocco, where a large shopping centre managed by the French chain ‘U’ is to be built. This project, which will be carried out in the Cabo Negro area, on the coast of Tetouan, is still at the drawing up of plans, but is expected to provide 800 jobs, both direct and indirect.

In this sense, this project will represent an important boost to the labour market around Tetouan, as it will provide diversified opportunities in areas such as retail, transport and logistics services.

It is also expected to have a significant economic impact on the region by contributing to the creation of jobs, as well as better meeting the needs both locally and from outside the area.

The site chosen for this major project, Cabo Negro, is very close to the town of Tetouan and is one of the most important and promising industrial and commercial areas in the north of the country.

Moreover, the area is easily accessible from several areas in the north of the Kingdom, which will reinforce its role as a commercial and residential centre, as well as a tourist destination throughout the year. Its geographical location and proximity to the city has aroused the interest of the French company.

This project was unveiled shortly after the official visit of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, to Morocco. During the French leader's official visit to the Kingdom, the two countries signed 22 agreements and protocols in different vital sectors, consolidating the partnership between Rabat and Paris in different areas such as trade, the economy, energy and education.

During his stay in Morocco, Macron also encouraged French companies to continue investing in the North African country, Paris' main economic partner in the region.
