The farms, Podlasek and Wólka Dobryńska, which will come into operation in the second half of the year, have a total installed capacity of 50 MW

Iberdrola closes the purchase of two onshore wind farms from Greenvolt Power in Poland

With this operation, the company reaches 212.8 MW in operation in Poland

Iberdrola has taken a further step in its international expansion. The company has closed the purchase of two onshore wind farms in Poland owned by Greenvolt Power, a subsidiary of the Greenvolt Group. The projects are expected to come on stream in the second half of the year, with a total capacity of 50 MW, generating enough energy to cover the needs of 50,000 Polish households per year.

The parks have been purchased from the Polish company Augusta Energy, a company owned 50% by the Greenvolt Group and 50% by K-Gal. These installations have already sold all their energy to T-Mobile under a 15-year contract indexed to inflation.

Poland, a growth pole

Poland, which has an A- rating from the S&P rating agency, is one of the largest renewable energy markets in the European Union with strong growth in electricity consumption and a commitment to replace coal as the main source of generation, as it accounts for 71% of the current mix.

Iberdrola aims to reach 1,000 MW in operation in the country by 2030.  The first step in the strategy was the acquisition of two onshore wind farms in operation (Korytnica 1 and Zopowy) in 2021, with a total of 112.5 MW, and an extension project (Korytnica 2) with 50.4 MW, currently in operation. With this closed transaction, the company reaches 212.8 MW.

In addition, the company has a development pipeline of 2,000 MW, which is expected to come on stream between 2025 and 2030.

Poland is one of the main markets for the Greenvolt Group in the development of its strategy of promotion, development and construction of large wind and solar projects. Currently, of the portfolio of 6.9 GW, 2.9 GW will be ready to start construction by the end of the year and a total of 3.4 GW are located in Poland.

Alongside the development of large-scale wind and solar PV projects in several European and American markets, the Greenvolt Group is also active in the strategic segment of distributed generation, operating in the business and residential segments in six geographies. In biomass energy production, it operates in Portugal and the United Kingdom.
