Iberdrola Spain launches the first aerothermal tariff with a guarantee of origin

In its aim to decarbonise the economy and achieve a more sustainable world and society, Iberdrola España has launched the first specific aerothermal tariff in Spain which, in addition, has 100% renewable energy certified with a guarantee of origin, which further reduces CO2 emissions, favouring decarbonisation.
The new tariff is available for both new and second-hand homes, whether they are high-rise or single-family homes. It is a tariff without permanence and personalised, which calculates each customer's eight hours of highest consumption daily, automatically applying a 40% discount. Thus, thanks to an intelligent algorithm, customers can get the most out of their aerothermal energy with total flexibility and without hourly limitations, as the tariff is adjusted daily to their needs and routines.
In addition, as a launch promotion, Iberdrola España is offering a 15% discount for two years on the energy price of the aerothermal tariff for 24 hours a day, i.e. on the promoted price and the price for the remaining hours
The company would add additional discounts if products related to aerothermal energy are contracted. Currently, for example, by contracting the home maintenance pack, you get an additional 5% discount on the price of energy for two years.
To facilitate the electrification of the residential fleet and the different sectors of the economy, Iberdrola España is working on the design of more smart plans optimised for certain profiles and consumers. As a first step, and to reward users with efficient homes that contribute most to decarbonisation by reducing the use of fossil fuels, the company has extended the conditions of the smart aerothermal tariff to its most electrified customers.
‘In line with our goal of decarbonisation, we have designed a tariff to reward customers who are committed to the fight against climate change and the reduction of fossil fuels. In addition, aerothermal systems allow savings of up to 70% in heating. It is a perfect combination of economic and environmental benefits,’ says Víctor Carballo, Head of Smart Climate at Iberdrola Spain.
Energy and economic savings
40% of the emissions produced in Europe come from heating homes with fossil fuels. Various European programmes advocate accelerating the transition to renewable energies, aerothermal energy.
Aerothermal systems are heat pumps that extract energy from the air through a thermodynamic cycle to provide heating in winter, cooling in summer and hot water all year round.
Compared to traditional boilers, aerothermal energy, as a renewable energy source, avoids combustion and its associated emissions, while at the same time achieving energy savings of up to 70% in heating energy in the case of underfloor heating and up to 40% in the case of radiators. In addition, this technology is safer as it eliminates the need for storage and dependence on fuel.
