Indra and DFS will integrate advanced landing management systems at Bucharest airport

DFS Aviation Services, the German air navigation service provider, has teamed up with Indra to implement the AMAN automated landing management system within the Bucharest Terminal Management Area (TMA) and at Bucharest-Henri Coanda International Airport. This collaboration includes the AMAN Arrival Manager landing tool with enhanced functionalities and is set to revolutionise air traffic management operations in the area.
The DFS AMAN system facilitates air movement information at the airport, increasing capacity and efficiency by preventing aircraft from idling in the air while consuming fuel unnecessarily. The tool has a proven service life of more than 20 years and features an automatic modular system of operational scenarios that visualises detailed information and data to enable air traffic controllers to plan and make decisions more safely. The AMAN tool is capable of recording in real time and in a set order all aircraft approaching the airport within a range of more than 350 kilometres.
Under the agreement, DFS Aviation Services and Indra will carry out a one and a half year project covering a wide range of services, including development, comprehensive documentation, quality requirements procedures, system configuration, hardware provision, training and testing sessions, as well as on-site support services at Indra and ROMATSA facilities.
After the initial implementation phase, DFS and Indra will provide ongoing maintenance and support services over the coming years to ensure the continued operability and efficiency of the AMAN tarmac arrival management module.
Andreas Pötzsch, CEO of DFS Aviation Services (DAS), said: "We are immensely proud to be involved in this important project and look forward to a strong cooperation with Indra and ROMATSA".
Adrian Cojoc, ROMATSA's CEO, said: "The partnership with Indra and DFS adds the AMAN tool to ROMATSA's list of important operational developments. While we have a long-standing partnership with Indra, with ongoing projects such as the implementation of FF-ICE, this is the first with DFS Aviation Services, paving the way for future collaborations. The project, which benefits all airspace users, aims to integrate the AMAN arrivals module into the ROMATSA air traffic management system developed by Indra".
José Luis González Paz, director of ATM in Continental Europe at Indra, highlighted that "it is essential for the company to strengthen the relationship with partners such as DFS and ROMATSA, with the ultimate goal of achieving a more efficient and sustainable air traffic and offering an improved and safe service to travellers. Whether as a technology provider, partner or customer, we all seek this goal and collaboration is essential to this end".
