Indra and Parsons sign a collaboration agreement to expand sustainable mobility business internationally

Indra, a leading global technology and consulting company, and Parsons, a leading international firm specialising in technology, engineering and transport, have signed a collaboration agreement to combine their capabilities and leadership in the implementation of innovative sustainable mobility technology solutions and strengthen their position in international business.
The objective is to explore new opportunities for the development of traffic management and ground transportation technologies in North America, where both companies have a long track record in regional and local projects, and to open the door to expanding the business internationally, especially in the Middle Eastern countries that are most committed to the latest technology for the sector. The agreement also contemplates the possibility of extending the collaboration to other areas of mobility, such as rail, maritime or airport.
Raúl Ripio, general manager of Indra's Mobility&Technology, and Robert Suess, vice-president and general manager of Parsons' Intelligent Infrastructure, signed the agreement at Indra's headquarters in Madrid. The agreement combines Parsons' experience in engineering, design, systems integration, construction and management of transport projects with Indra's capabilities in the development of the most advanced solutions for connected highways, dynamic toll systems, intelligent traffic control or automatic vehicle detection, among others.
"At Indra, we have been working for years in the United States on mobility projects in which we have applied the most cutting-edge technologies, such as our connected car platform or our free-flow dynamic tolling systems for Managed Lanes. To continue growing and boosting our leadership, we joined Parsons, which is a benchmark in transportation in this country and a great partner to generate synergies and strengthen the positioning of our transformative solutions worldwide," said Raúl Ripio, general manager of Mobility&Technology at Indra.
"Indra and Parsons share a common goal of advancing sustainable mobility through innovative solutions that improve transportation systems and infrastructure," said Robert Suess, vice president and general manager of Intelligent Infrastructure at Parsons. "Our collaboration will enable us to leverage our respective strengths to deliver transformative mobility solutions that enhance connectivity, safety and efficiency around the world," he added.
Strengthening expansion in the United States
With this agreement, Indra strengthens its expansion in the US, where it recently won a contract with the North Carolina Turnpike Authority (NCTA), together with Parsons, to provide a dynamic free-flow toll system, which uses 3D LiDAR technology and Artificial Intelligence, for the fast lanes of the I-485 highway, one of the main roads in North Carolina.
The technology company has a strong presence in the US mobility market, where, in addition to the current award of the I-485, months ago it put into operation on the I-66 Outside the Beltway the free-flow overhead toll systems, automatic detection of High Occupancy Vehicles (HOV), 3D LiDAR technology and connected vehicle. In addition, it has also installed the HOV system on the express lanes of the I-95, I-495 and I-395 highways in northern Virginia.
With this signing, Indra confirms its position as a leader in the development and implementation of intelligent technology for traffic and public transport management through solutions that facilitate sustainable mobility and promote more efficient modes of transport, with references in countries such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Philippines, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Portugal and Spain.
For its part, Parsons adds value to its experience in the design, construction and maintenance of intelligent transport systems in the United States and is studying new business opportunities in strategic points such as the Middle East, where it already has a wide network of suppliers and partners to integrate Indra's technological solutions and optimise resources.
