Indra and SAES sign a collaboration agreement on infrastructure protection, acoustic systems and simulation

Both companies strengthen ties at a time when the protection of ports, shipping routes and maritime energy and communications infrastructure continues to grow

Indra and SAES signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday at FEINDEF, the international defence fair being held this week in Madrid, to collaborate in the areas of infrastructure protection, acoustic systems and simulation.

The executive chairman of Indra Group, Ángel Escribano, the chairman of SAES, Javier Mármol, and César Solano, managing director of SAES, signed the agreement at a ceremony held at Indra's stand during the fair.

Ángel Escribano stated that ‘Indra is committed to strengthening collaboration and joint work within Spanish industry to develop cutting-edge solutions that ensure the sovereignty and strategic autonomy of our Armed Forces and allies and enable us to compete at the highest level worldwide.’

For his part, Javier Mármol pointed out that ‘SAES is a company highly specialised in underwater acoustics and multi-influence that supplies advanced systems for the Navy and is committed to collaboration as the key to open, more agile and efficient innovation’.

Both companies are strengthening ties at a time when the need to ensure free access to shipping routes, protect communications and energy infrastructure at sea, and ensure port security continues to grow. They are also preparing to support the Navy in fulfilling its Vision 2050, which sets as one of its core objectives keeping the fleet at the forefront of technology in order to adapt to an increasingly complex and volatile global environment.

Indra is working on key European R&D projects such as SMAUG (Smart Maritime and Underwater Guardian), which combines the use of intelligence and advanced algorithms with the use of different acoustic sensors and drones to enhance port security. The company has also equipped the Navy's most advanced ships with electronic defence systems, radars and communication systems, which it exports worldwide and which are used by the most advanced navies. It is currently enhancing the capabilities of its solutions with its IndraMind intelligence platform and preparing them to operate in highly digitised and collaborative combat theatres.
