Indra Group and Piedrafita Systems reach agreement to armour land vehicles for the Armed Forces
Indra Group and Piedrafita Systems have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to jointly develop advanced technological solutions for the Armed Forces, with the aim of strengthening national technological sovereignty and contributing to the so-called special modernisation programmes (PEM).
Specifically, both companies will promote their capabilities in state-of-the-art technology in areas critical to defence missions, especially in the electrical mission and suspension systems of military land vehicles, two key areas for improving their performance, reliability and safety in operations.
The executive chairman of Indra Group, Ángel Escribano, and Luis Corral, CEO of Piedrafita Systems, signed this strategic agreement during the II Meeting of the National Defence Industry Ecosystem, organised by Indra Group.
Ángel Escribano, Executive Chairman of Indra Group, highlighted that "this agreement with Piedrafita Systems expands our commitment to developing cutting-edge technological solutions that promote the modernisation of the Armed Forces and consolidate a strong, innovative and sovereign national industry. Together with Piedrafita Systems, we are strengthening the industrial ecosystem, placing Spain at the forefront in the field of land vehicles and in major international and European programmes, and expanding our network of more than 1,000 partners with 200 new allies throughout the country."
Luis Corral, CEO of Piedrafita Systems, noted that "this new step in the collaboration between Indra Group and Piedrafita promotes the contribution of cutting-edge national products and technologies to special modernisation programmes. The alliance allows the technological and innovation capabilities of both companies to be put at the service of defence, contributing to the success of national and European programmes. This agreement enriches the Spanish industrial and technological fabric, promoting the development of proprietary and advanced solutions that guarantee national sovereignty and strategic autonomy."
Leadership in the land domain

With the creation of Indra Land Vehicles and its controlling position in Tess Defence, the company responsible for the production of the 8x8 Dragón, the company has positioned itself as the engine of growth and industrial traction for the development and technological integration of military land vehicles in Spain.
In addition, and to boost its industrial capabilities, Indra Group will invest more than €100 million in its factories in Gijón, Vigo and Córdoba.
Among the most advanced solutions Indra is developing in the land sector are the Maestre mission system, the first new-generation system to enter production in Europe and the most advanced on the market for military vehicles and combat tanks, and the Nemus radar, a state-of-the-art system designed to protect armoured vehicles and platforms from threats such as drones, missiles and projectiles.
