Indra strengthens its position in Asia after winning a new contract for air defence radars

Indra continues to expand its presence in the Asian defence market after winning a project to supply the Thai Air Force with a long-range Lanza radar, competing with some of the most important companies in the sector.
This radar stands out for its enormous reliability: it is a system that must remain operational at all times to ensure surveillance of the airspace entrusted to it.
It is also a system capable of detecting fifth-generation aircraft, ballistic missiles and drones, and is especially suited to detecting targets in rainy areas such as Thailand, where other radars may encounter difficulties.
The system incorporates the latest algorithms to resist adversary attempts to interfere with its operation, as well as the ability to mitigate the effects of windmills and solar plants, which cause reflections that can also affect detection.
This radar is the second that Indra has delivered to the Thai Air Force. The company already put into service a long-range radar with similar characteristics, accompanied by an advanced system to monitor the airspace situation and conduct air missions, known as Airdef.
Indra's Director of Business Development of Integrated Defence Systems, Francisco Jiménez, said: ‘We are very proud that the Thai Air Force has once again placed its trust in us and in our ability to adapt our systems to its specific operational requirements. Our systems have been designed to operate relentlessly, guaranteeing the fulfilment of a critical role for the country's security.
Indra is a leading company in the development of state-of-the-art radars, which it has delivered to 30 countries on five continents and to NATO. Its systems cover all the functions and scopes that a modern army may require, from space surveillance in near-Earth orbits, long- and medium-range surveillance, to anti-aircraft defence, naval combat or protection against drones.
