Moroccan Crown Prince presides over the opening of the International Agricultural Show of Morocco
- Morocco's commitment to agriculture
- Commitment to innovation and sustainability
- France, guest of honour
The opening of the 2025 edition of the Moroccan International Agricultural Show (SIAM) was presided over by Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan. The fair, which is being held in the city of Meknes from 21 to 27 April, represents an opportunity to showcase Morocco's commitment to agriculture and to the main global concerns in this area, such as food security, sustainable development and the fight against climate change.
France is the guest of honour at this year's event, a decision that consolidates bilateral relations between Paris and Rabat in several sectors, including agriculture.
Morocco's commitment to agriculture
Accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, the Wali of the Fez-Meknes region, and various diplomatic representatives, including Benjamin Haddad, French Minister Delegate for Europe, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan inaugurated the 17th edition of the International Agricultural Show in Morocco, renewing the country's commitment to agriculture.
During his visit, the Crown Prince explored several key areas of the fair, including the ‘Regions’ hub, with its local agricultural specificities; the ‘Water and Irrigation’ hub; and the ‘Research and Innovation’ hub, where technological solutions for optimised resource management are presented.
Moulay El Hassan also visited the ‘Sponsors’, ‘Institutional’, ‘Agri-food’, ‘International’, ‘Agri-digital’, ‘Agri-supply’, ‘Nature and Environment’, ‘Machinery’, ‘Local products’, ‘Livestock’ and ‘Livestock farming’ areas. These hubs illustrate the modernisation of the sector and the integration of new technologies in the service of sustainable agriculture.
Commitment to innovation and sustainability
Located in the Sahrij Souani square in Meknes, covering an area of 12.4 hectares, the 2025 Moroccan International Agricultural Show will be attended by 70 countries, in addition to France as guest of honour.
In total, SIAM is hosting more than 1,500 exhibitors at this 17th edition, which is committed to innovation and sustainability to create a better agricultural future with significant returns for the country.
This edition also features several conferences and round tables, with the aim of exchanging experiences and exploring concrete alternatives for a more resilient agriculture, capable of responding to climate challenges and preserving the balance of the agricultural ecosystem, biodiversity and ensuring the country's sustainable food sovereignty.
SIAM 2025 offers visitors a range of state-of-the-art agricultural products and machinery to promote agricultural and livestock production and highlight key sectors of the regional economy.
Since its creation in 2006, throughout previous editions and with more than one million visitors expected, SIAM 2025 has positioned itself as one of the essential events in the agricultural sector in Africa and a privileged platform for meetings and partnership opportunities between the different actors and operators in the ecosystem.
As one of the most influential agricultural fairs on the African continent, this edition of SIAM confirms its key role in promoting efficient, environmentally friendly agriculture that guarantees Morocco's food sovereignty.
France, guest of honour
The choice of France as guest of honour highlights the dynamic relations between the two countries, particularly in the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors. This collaboration offers opportunities for technology exchange and the creation of strategic partnerships.
France's participation in SIAM as guest of honour also reflects the excellent relations between the two countries and the dynamism that characterises their bilateral cooperation. This is the result of a shared desire to strengthen the synergies initiated last February in Paris and to make the two agricultural fairs (SIA and SIAM) platforms for exchange and innovation in the service of Franco-Moroccan cooperation.
It should be remembered that Morocco was the first guest of honour at the International Agricultural Show (SIA) held at the end of March in Paris. In this regard, the organisers of the SIA emphasised in a statement that France's presence as guest of honour at the International Agricultural Show in Morocco reflects the positive and reciprocal dynamic that characterises agricultural and agri-food relations between the two countries.
Delegations from African and Arab countries (Angola, Benin, Palestine, South Sudan, among others) are also present at this international fair, as well as the Islamic Organisation for Education, Science and Culture (ICESCO) and the World Water Council, among other international organisations.
As a platform for agricultural and environmental cooperation, SIAM will address issues of crucial importance to both parties, such as sustainable water resource management, plant and animal genetics, and the challenges posed by climate change.
