SIAM 2024, a showcase for the latest technologies for adapting to climate change

Morocco is preparing for the 16th edition of the International Agriculture Exhibition (SIAM), an event to be held in Meknes from Monday 22 April to Sunday 28 April. Under the theme "Climate and agriculture: for sustainable and resilient production systems" and under the High Patronage of King Mohammed VI, the 2024 edition of SIAM will have Spain as its guest of honour.
This edition will take place in the midst of a severe climate crisis characterised in particular by high temperatures and lack of water resources, which highlights the urgency of promoting and developing resilient and sustainable agricultural systems.
This event is an ideal meeting to discover the latest technologies for adapting to climate change, as stated by the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forestry, Mohamed Sadiki, during a press conference dedicated to SIAM.
This edition will also be marked by the organisation of the National Agricultural and Rural Press Grand Prix, which aims to reward journalistic excellence in the field of agriculture and rural development, according to Sadiki.
It is also the perfect opportunity for different companies to promote their work through SIAM, "increasing business opportunities and strengthening their impact on the global market", according to the official SIAM website.

"Despite the advent of innovative communications, nothing replaces the power of face-to-face meetings. SIAM remains an essential catalyst, conducive to intensifying your business dynamics," the website says, encouraging companies to "maximise economic benefits by actively participating" in the event. "With more than 900,000 visitors over a 7-day period, this event is the best place to promote and sell your products to a diverse audience," it underlines.

With regard to the guest of honour, Spain, the Moroccan authorities emphasised the Iberian country's willingness to invest in innovative agricultural projects in favour of a more intelligent use of resources, particularly water.
It also highlights the importance of bilateral relations between the two countries, which have been consolidated through numerous cooperation agreements in various fields, including agriculture, water resources and the environment.
Agriculture, the basis of the Moroccan economy
SIAM was founded in 2006 on the initiative of King Mohammed VI, who inaugurated previous editions of the event along with Prince Moulay Rachid and Crown Prince Moulay Al Hassan. This event is particularly relevant as it reflects national agricultural strategies and illustrates the royal attention paid to the agricultural sector.
This industry is, in fact, the essential economic engine of the Kingdom, the guarantor of the country's social balance and the guarantee of security for the future and generations to come.
