Within the framework of the collaboration agreements signed between the Basque Government's Security Department and Iberdrola Spain, the Security Minister, Bingen Zupiria, visited the company's Berroeta Corporate Centre on Wednesday 10 July.

He was accompanied by senior officials from his department and executives from Iberdrola Spain: Asís Canales, Director of Services and Resources; Javier Arriola, Director of the Northern Region of i-DE, Iberdrola Spain's distribution company; and José Miguel Gordillo, Director of Corporate Security.

During the visit, the authorities were able to see the facilities of the Distribution Operations Centre (COD), from where the Basque Country's electricity supply network is operated, and the Global Cyber Fusion Centre, the company's coordination centre for digital threats.

Iberdrola Spain signed two agreements with the Ertzaintza last May. One is related to cybersecurity and the other is more general in nature and related to security. Both agreements provide for training and mutual cooperation in the use of facilities and resources, as well as prevention and investigation in the field of public safety.

The visit also forms part of the agreement in force between i-DE, Iberdrola Spain's distribution company, and SOS Deiak 112 for the coordination of security and emergency incidents.
