Las exportaciones de Marruecos subieron un 24,3% en 2021 pese a la crisis sanitaria

The Moroccan government announced Thursday a 24.3% increase in the country's exports in 2021 compared to last year worth 326 billion dirhams (30.1 billion euros), thanks to an improvement in international demand despite the coronavirus health crisis.
"It is a faster than expected post-covid recovery," government spokesman Mustafa Baitas told a press conference after the weekly meeting of the Governing Council today.
Baitas added that the export situation was discussed at the executive meeting today by several ministers, including Economy Minister Nadia Fettah Alaoui, who pointed to an improvement in the coverage rate from 56.8% in 2017 to 62% in 2021.
The ministers agreed on the growth prospects of the country's main export sectors. Automotive sales increased by 15 % in January this year compared to the same period in 2020 with a total of 83.8 billion dirhams (€7.7 billion).
As for phosphate exports, they doubled in January 2022 compared to the same period in 2020, totalling Dh79.9 billion (€7.3 billion). An increase attributable to the rise in prices of this product on the international market.
This increase was also recorded in textile exports (21%), aeronautics (12%) and handicraft products (31%).
