Iberdrola Spain and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) have joined forces once again this year. This Sunday, coinciding with International Breast Cancer Awareness Day, a veritable green tide swept through the streets of central Zamora during the 17th Mucho x Vivir Race. More than 8,000 people took part in this charity event, which received special support from Iberdrola Spain as its main sponsor.

The funds raised by this collaboration, which is part of the agreement between the two entities, will be used for research to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment, as well as for social awareness campaigns aimed at fighting the disease.

In addition, taking advantage of this charity sporting event, Iberdrola Spain wanted to highlight one of the most innovative initiatives developed under this agreement, the ‘Together Against Cancer’ campaign, through which the company offers its customers the opportunity to collaborate with the association by committing to double the amount they donate monthly through their electricity or gas bill.

'Iberdrola Spain and the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) have a long-standing relationship that was consolidated in 2015 with the signing of a collaboration agreement aimed at cancer research. The ongoing commitment of the company and its customers has made Iberdrola Spain the AECC's main private partner,' said Miguel Calvo, Iberdrola Spain's representative in Castile and León.

Iberdrola Spain, creating value for society

Iberdrola Spain wants to continue maintaining its momentum and contact with the province of Zamora and all the parties involved, and to this end, it is committed to retaining and attracting young talent. To do so, it is returning to its roots with the help of the future, talent and innovation. The facilities that for decades housed Iberdrola Spain's Hydraulics Laboratory, a world leader in the field of engineering alongside the Ricobayo dam, have been transformed into a pioneering project: an innovation and training centre that will welcome 1,000 future professionals from all corners of Spain every year.

Looking to the future, Iberdrola Spain will continue to make significant investments in this region in order to continue offering its nearly 130,000 customers in Zamora an ever-improving quality of service.

To this end, it plans to invest 36 million euros in electricity networks in the province over the next four years, with a further 40 million euros earmarked for the expansion of wind farms, 4.7 million euros for hydroelectric infrastructure over the last two years and a recurring tax contribution of more than 13 million euros per year in provincial taxes.

The company has 17 facilities in the province of Zamora with an installed capacity of 976 MW, four wind farms and 13 hydroelectric power stations, providing clean and flexible energy that creates jobs and is committed to training professionals in a booming sector that offers work to young people.

In addition, in collaboration with the Rei Afonso Henriques Foundation, they educate young people from schools in Zamora about the risks of climate change.
