Gustavo de Arístegui, diplomat, ambassador and member of parliament for the Popular Party, listed on La Razón on 8 March 2025 the reasons why the Asian continent is becoming increasingly important in all sectors. After returning from Hong Kong, de Arístegui pointed to China's rise, territorial expansionism, the Belt and Road Initiative and technological power as the reasons why Europe must make an effort if it does not want to disappear from the main tables of the world order.
