Minsait, an Indra company, has acquired 70% of the Italian company specialised in digital document management solutions and services SmartPaper, an operation that reinforces the company's presence in the Italian 'Business Process Outsourcing' (BPO) market, according to a press release from Minsait.

"The agreement allows Minsait and SmartPaper to join forces in the business of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) of high value and technological complexity, completing their offer of digital transformation from end to end and boosting the international projection of this business area, with a focus on Europe and Latin America", he highlights.

SmartPaper is an Italian company specialising in the design, implementation and management of solutions for the digital storage and processing of documents and expects to exceed 40 million euros in sales by 2021.

Headquartered in Potenza (Basilicata), the company has evolved its portfolio towards high-value back office solutions (customer registration, invoicing, credit management, etc.) derived from the document management process.

The director of Minsait in Italy, Pedro Garcia, pointed out that the agreement with SmartPaper once again demonstrates the company's "strong commitment" to expansion in Italy and especially in the south of the country, where they have grown "constantly" in recent years.

"The sum of our capacities represents, in fact, an opportunity for growth in Basilicata, offering a project with an international vocation in a crucial moment for the country, when it is most important to lay the foundations for a sustainable and digital economy that guarantees qualified jobs in the coming years", he added.

After the signing, SmartPaper will maintain its executive management reporting to Minsait's management in Italy, which guarantees the continuity of the management model. To this end, the group will also maintain its own structure and brand, preserving the competitive advantages that have distinguished it until now.

SmartPaper partners Michele di Trana and Pasquale Carrano have stressed that this alliance also allows them to add to their skills the international presence that will ensure entry into new markets to guarantee "further growth" and therefore strengthen their commitment in the Basilicata region.

In Italy, Minsait has over 1,200 professionals distributed throughout the territory. Thanks to the alliance with SmartPaper, the companies have over 2,200 employees with a strong presence in the south of the country, where they have six production centres.
