National Policy for Digital Quality of Life launched in UAE

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, approved the 'National Policy for Quality of Digital Life', to create a safe digital community in the country and promote a positive identity through appropriate digital interactions.

The ruler who was accompanied by Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and several ministers, attended the launch of the 'Code of Positive Digital Citizenship Behaviours and Values', which aims to establish a framework of positive digital citizenship values and behaviours in the UAE and consists of ten articles

The ten articles cover UAE legacy, digital reputation, respect for others, positive investment, good manners, digital privacy, editorial credibility, accountability and systems, digital ethics and balanced use.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of improving the quality of the community's digital life, through the development of appropriate policies, initiatives and projects that can keep pace with the latest local and international developments in the digital world, through the motivation and consolidation of the digital community.

In the "World Digital Competitiveness Ranking", UAE leads the Arab countries and ranks 12th globally in three key pillars, which are technology, future readiness and knowledge.

"We adopted the National Digital Quality of Life Policy to maintain a healthy and positive digital environment for the younger generation who spend more time in virtual reality than in the real world. We aim to make their reality positive, productive and safe," said the Dubai ruler. 

The initiative aims to improve the quality of digital life through digital skills, capacity building of community members and the conscious and correct use of the internet. The National Council for Quality of Digital Life was established by a Cabinet resolution and is composed of ten government authorities. It is responsible for developing and monitoring the implementation of policies and programmes aimed at ensuring the digital quality of life of citizens and encouraging the appropriate use of technology.
